Moon Rising

women circle sacred space moon community embodiment dance spirituality

Moon Rising offers a sacred space for women to gather in circle, return home to our bodies, and support one another as the powerful, intuitive, loving force that we are!

Each 6-week series is designed for those who feel called to co-create a community of mutual support; one anchored in the body, informed by life, and guided by the elevation of love, beauty, and connection. Together we invoke sacred listening, witnessing, and intuitive movement to cultivate awareness, invite presence, and engage our lives as a force for change. Together we remember and observe the cyclical nature of creation, aligning our inner and outer worlds with the phases, seasons, and stages of Life, and the creative, regenerative force of Creation. We move and are moved. Together.

What folks are saying:

“Your teachings are doorways into realms that fuel my sprit, inspire creativity, and keep me attuned to what my body is telling me. I’ve learned to embody the practices in deeply meaningful, and sometimes scary ways within which YES and NO have equal validity and provide entry and exit points I can rely on. The most important dancing I do is within the quiet of these containers.”
— ZG, she/her, Minneapolis
Deep witness is a non-negotiable need for co-regulation and attunement. The time I’ve invested in showing up for this Authentic Movement container for womxn every week has given back so much in steady somatic rootedness and connection with other movers and feelers.
Teresa Reid is a potent and loving space holder who is deeply devoted to embodiment and authentic presence, and we are blessed to have her heartful service as a movement and dance facilitator in these times of so much change.
— FS, they/them, Minneapolis

If you feel the call to rest in What Is without need to fix, mend, strive or plan…

If you are ready to follow the non.linear path of inner wisdom and intuition…

If you seek a space to listen, move, and play with what’s emerging in your direct experience, revealing and witnessing what cannot be experienced alone…

Stepping into circle as peers and mentors, mirrors and motivators, we share what we know and what we cannot understand. Through movement and sound we explore fiercely or tenderly, dancing to the beat of our own truth and the rhythms that pulse through our veins. Although experience isn’t essential, a willingness to move without facilitation and/or experience with conscious dance, body based practices or somatic witnessing can be helpful. Authentic Movement/Contemplative Dance will be our guides, along with sacred witnessing, shared inquiry, and creative processing. *Plan to move in the presence of a witness - without music - for at least 15 minutes.*

What is Authentic Movement/Contemplative Dance?

Started as “movement in depth” by Mary Starks Whitehouse, and later expanded by Joan Chodorow and Janet Adler, Authentic Movement is a meditative, intuitive, improvisational dance practice involving a mover and a witness. It is a practice of listening and attuning, slowing down and opening up, to follow the deeper threads of body and psyche through movement and sound.

“The movement becomes ‘authentic’ when the individual is able to allow their intuitive impulses to freely express themselves without intellectual directive, as opposed to movement initiated by conscious decision making....Individuals simply pay attention to what they feel at a sensory level, since the core of the movement experience is the sensation of moving and being moved.”
— Mary Starks Whitehouse

Whether we are moving or witnessing, we are actively engaging the process; containing and observing without judgement while tuning into sensation and impulse. We strengthen our capacity to be with, to hold, to put into motion, and to uncover what was previously unknown. The experience(s) we share can be therapeutic, mindful, and mystic…personal, transpersonal and collective.

Investment: I believe this work is extremely important and am committed to making it as accessible as possible. If your financial means are a barrier to your participation, choose an amount that feels fair and honest for you. I am suggesting a range of $150-$200, but invite you to consider an amount that feels right given:

-Your financial means
-Similar offerings
-Your desire to support the work of Rooted and Rising

I have been supported and energetically sheltered which has allowed me to experience all sorts of feelings and expressions more deeply and profoundly within myself.
— SD, she/her, St. Paul
Grateful for the space we created. No matter how I was feeling, or what I was noticing, I showed up with what was and knew all was welcomed in our cauldron of acceptance.
— KH, she/her, Minneapolis
The quality of my life has changed greatly. To reconnect with my body has been life enhancing and a necessary piece of the puzzle I felt I was missing. I have noticed that I listen more to my body and am doing so much more self-care. I am beginning to truly understand the ‘body-mind-spirit’ connection and the importance of being with and working with all three. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart — mere words do not express the gratitude I am feeling and how honored I am to have been a part of this group.
— LF, she/her, Florida
