Fertile Ground: A 6-week Foundational Open Floor Movement Series

At the foundation of the Open Floor Movement Practice is the 4x4 weave: 4 dimensions of embodiment (physical, emotional, mental and soulful) layered with 4 relational hungers (solitude, connection, belonging, and Spirit). This weave is the terrain of all our dances, and where and how we dance on the Open Floor.

Fertile Ground (previously known as Bare Bones) is a series for beginners and seasoned movers alike to explore the common ground of all somatic practices…the 4 dimensions of embodiment. We know there is no real separation between these aspects of ourselves for we cannot move the body without touching our feelings, activating thoughts, or expressing our one-of-a-kind soulfulness. However, in this foundational series we aim to differentiate each of these dimensions to better understand their particular essence, explore their shapes, tones or expressions, and welcome them into the fullness of our Being.

When:
Mondays, September 11 - October 23, 2023
7 - 8:30pm

Where:
Tula Yoga & Wellness, 99 Snelling Ave N, St Paul MN

Investment in Self:
$150

My body/being feels freer, with more capacity and aliveness after we dance together. And that translates to more access to the love within
and around me. Thank you, Teresa, for being the skilled and loving
steward of this work that you are!
— Kris, St. Paul

Who is this for?

The Open Floor is not a space to learn “how to dance”. Instead, we dance to learn…about ourselves, one another, and the lives we’re living. Through direct experience we explore how to be more present, track our limits and resource through movement and rest. Facilitators support this process with mindfully curated soundscapes, inquiry/sharing exercises, and the balance of structure (gently guided facilitation) and freedom (self-exploration).

All bodies, regardless of experience, are welcome to join. No pre-requisites are required.

You may enjoy the Open Floor if:

*You seek a movement practice that offers time to listen, reflect, and connect with the innate rhythms of your own body, heart, mind and soul.
*You long to build relationship and express the Totality of Who You Are, including the difficult and/or disowned.
*You want to turn your dance into an awareness practice - becoming more awake, resourced, and empowered to make choices in the present tense.
*You want to expand the range of what is possible as a mover and try new things.
*You want to do this communally!

What participants are saying:

The healing medicine I am receiving is abundant, rich and keeping me grounded during this tense journey of my soul. Thank you for your gentle and brave guidance!
— Maria, Minneapolis
Last night’s dance was so nourishing. I had a rough emotional day with old darkness visiting me. I felt so much lighter at the end of the night. Community and deep space provide such powerful healing.
— Gabrielle, Minneapolis
I was moved to sweet tears by the beauty of our dance tonight. I am in deep appreciation of the power, sensitivity, and commitment to embodiment I have experienced in this gathering of souls.
— Heather, Minneapolis
For me, there is a vulnerability in moving that I’m warming into. I find such value in being able to bring anything to this practice; it all belongs and is honored. It amazes me how things shift.
— Cori, River Falls WI
