Body of Innocence with Peter Yanz

Oh, these bodies we live in! They can bring us such joy and pleasure. All too often, though, we have received messages from family, culture and our experiences that cause us to push parts of our pleasure and sensuality underground, introducing shame and confusion to our basic human experience.

In this Open Floor workshop, we will come back to a place of innocence and curiosity, playfulness and connection. We will reconnect with the beauty and pleasure of the senses and from there begin to move into the simple joy of connecting with others without story or agenda. Moving through this territory, we will also emphasize clean and clear boundaries and personal responsibility.

We hope you will join us on this journey of self-discovery and transformation.

Open Floor Movement Practice is a lively, sweaty, full-on dance inquiry. We call on universal elements that are inherent in any moving body, such as breath, center, activation and settling, the hunger for connection and belonging, silence. This is the common ground all embodiment practices share and that we explore in Open Floor. We start small, end quiet. We respond to obstacles and slip through the cracks. Ask, how am I now? What’s possible? Find direction. Add fire. Push the limit. Embrace paradox. Open Floor is where the rubber meets the road – a place for creative focus and loving attention through movement.

About Peter:
Peter is a natural mover who finds deep joy in connection with nature, whether that be mountains, ocean or the wild nature that is his own earth body. His passion is in helping others wake up to their own bodies as earth and as home. He trained as a teacher of 5Rhythms movement with Gabrielle Roth and is currently engaged in an apprenticeship with Andrea Juhan, cofounder of Open Floor International.
